ATi managed to fix the CrossFire scaling issues that have been reported by [H]ard|OCP a few weeks ago. This is primarily for Alien versus Predator and Battlefield Bad Company 2.

You can download the new Profile Update at the bottom of this [H]ard|OCP article or directly here.

A short excerpt from the [H]ard|OCP article:

“In our recent SLI and CFX testing lately we have been disappointed in CrossFireX performance scaling, particular in two games that we felt should be exhibiting better performance scaling. This all started back when we did our round of GTX 460 SLI testing and discovered the GTX 460 SLI configuration blowing away even 5850 and 5870 CrossFireX ATI GPU video card configurations. Since then, we have been working with AMD to get to the bottom of performance issues with CrossFireX with the previous Catalyst drivers and CrossFireX Application Profile (CAP) software.

Catalyst 10.8 was released yesterday, and with it, a new CAP version as well. We tested the driver and CAP and found the same performance as we had been experiencing previously, there was no change.

AMD provided us with a new CrossFireX Application Profile today that its claims fixes and improves scaling with CrossFireX performance, particular in two titles, Aliens vs. Predator and Battlefield: Bad Company 2.”

ATi released the Catalyst 10.8 Suite today, as announced some days ago by Terry Makedon. The official website is a little behind, but should be updated soon. You will be able to grab the suite here or via direct Operating System links to the left side of this blog.

Alternatively you can already grab the Driver + CCC full package via this german website (Package is English language). Same goes for the mobility Catalyst Suite here.

The release notes talk about quite some new features and improvements: Read the rest of this entry »

“On vacation – but just got an email saying that Starcraft 2 AA is almost ready. Just getting tested now. Hotfix soon.”

We will be posting a new Blog entry when the Hotfix driver is released. Blizzard on the other hand already stated that they will officially have Anti-Aliasing with a later game patch.
